Blog of the Year Award

About 10 months ago Kay, Austin, Nikki and I decided to revamp our little blog, give it a fresh image and a new name, and commit ourselves and our Public Affairs colleagues to posting regular content and interacting more with our readers. Last week, very unexpectedly, Woodland Matters was nominated by Dear Kitty: Some blog for the “Blog of the Year 2012″ Award.

I have to admit this was a new one for us! Dear, Dear Kitty: Some blog (six time winner!) was kind enough to explain a few things, and we were chuffed to pieces to discover that this Award is something blogs are nominated for by the blogging community. How wonderful to know that you guys like what we are doing, too.

This is how it works:

The “Blog of the Year” award is a little different from some other awards, because you accumulate stars. Here are the ‘rules’ for this award:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/ and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them.

5 You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience.

6 As a winner of the award please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars… Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different! When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star! There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favourite blogs, and even if they have already been given the award by someone else, then you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars! For more information check the FAQ on The Thought Palette.

——————————————————————————————–

So before we posted up our first shiny new star, we had a think about the blogs we have really enjoyed reading over the last few months. Who to nominate for the Award in return? Well, in no particular order – well deserved praise and a new star goes to:

And a special mention to a brand new blogger friend: envirolady. (I’m having trouble trying to let each of these blogs know about their nomination this morning but will keep trying).

Thanks to you all for inspiring and engaging us with amazing images, beautiful poems, funny stories, mouth-watering recipes, and your fascinating news and views. Please keep passing the Award on and, as Dear Kitty: Some blog says, “keep the star shine going for blog years and years to come!

Happy New Year!

Kaye, Kay, Nikki, Austin and all at the Woodland Trust’s blog

Hello exceptional blog! Does running a blog similar to this require a great
deal of work? I’ve virtually nno knowledge of computer programming however I had been hoping to start my own blog in the near future.
Anyhow, should you have any recommendations or techniques for new blog owners please share.

I know this is off subject nevertheless I simply needed to ask.
    Appreciate it!
